The Community Development Department manages communication, marketing, and events, oversees the Wilkes County Farmer’s Market, and runs the town’s Main Street program, the Downtown North Wilkesboro Partnership. Community Development exists to further North Wilkesboro’s goal of being a place where people want to live, work, and play.

The Yadkin Valley Marketplace is a transformed parking deck that is now the home of the Wilkes County Farmers Market, the town's annual summer Concert Series, and many other community events.
