FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GOV. ROY COOPER MOVES STATE INTO “SAFER AT HOME” REOPENING PHASE 2.5

[RALEIGH, NC, SEPTEMBER 1, 2020] – Earlier today Governor Roy Cooper announced that the state would move into phase 2.5 of the pandemic recovery this Friday, September 4, 2020 at 5 p.m.

Phase 2.5 will relax some of the protective measures currently in place:

  • The limit on mass gatherings will be increased to 25 indoors, and 50 outdoors;
  • Playgrounds are permitted to reopen;
  • Gyms and other health and recreational facilities may reopen at 30% capacity;
  • Museums and aquariums may open at 50% capacity.

The governor’s new order also adds a new requirement: masks must be worn in public by every person aged 5 and up.

Also, earlier this week, the governor extended the 11 p.m. curfew on alcohol sales to October 2.

These changes were made as health trends stabilized over the last two weeks.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
