[ARCHIVED] Governor Roy Cooper extends statewide Stay at Home order

[Raleigh, NC, April 23, 2020] North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has extended his stay-at-home order to May 8, 2020. He outlined a series of trends that the state must meet before restrictions are lifted. Currently, the state is meeting only one of the four trends, though the upward trajectory in the other trend lines is slowing.

He outlined a three phase, gradual re-opening plan. Phase 1 will include a modified stay-at-home order that will allow commercial activity as long as rigorous social distancing standards are maintained. Mass gatherings will still be restricted. Facial coverings remain recommended. If downward trends continue for two to three weeks, the state will move into Phase 2. This phase will see the stay-at-home lifted, but vulnerable populations will still be encouraged to stay home. Restaurants and other businesses can reopen with rigorous social distancing requirements. The number of people allowed to gather will be increased. If downward trends continue for four to six weeks, the state will move into Phase 3. This phase will see further lessening of the restrictions, and increase the number of people allowed to gather.

This is breaking news. Stay tuned for additional information.
