[ARCHIVED] Town Services Change

This decision was made today after the County of Wilkes, along with the towns of Wilkesboro, North Wilkesboro, and Ronda, declared a state of emergency.

The changes are listed below by department:

North Wilkesboro Police Department – No changes to public facing services. Residents are urged to dial 911 in case of emergency.

North Wilkesboro Fire Department – Medical calls involving patients with flu-like symptoms will be dispatched to Wilkes County EMS. North Wilkesboro Fire Department personnel will assist as needed. Fire and other emergency calls will be fielded as normal. Residents are urged to dial 911 in case of emergency.

Water/Sewer Department – No changes to water/sewer service. Customers are encouraged to use online bill pay. In person bill pay is available, though customers are encouraged to use Town Hall’s walk-up payment window on Main St.

Parks and Recreation – Woodlawn Recreation Center is hereby closed until further notice. Chickenques scheduled for March and April at Town of North Wilkesboro facilities will be postponed. Outdoor parks will remain open for individual use.

Planning and Inspections – Staff will be available by appointment only.

Public Works – No changes to public works services including refuse collection.

Tourism – The opening of the Wilkes County Farmers’ Market on April 18, and the Cruise-Ins scheduled for April 4 and April 11 are cancelled. The Farmers Market will also be closed April 21, 25, and 28.

Administration and Finance – Staff will be available by appointment only.

Board of Commissioners – Official Board of Commissioners meetings will proceed as planned.
