FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TOWN OF NORTH WILKSBORO TO HOLD ANNUAL PLANNING RETREAT ON FEBRUARY 11, 2022

[NORTH WILKESBORO, NC, February 3, 2022] – The North Wilkesboro Board of Commissioners will hold its annual planning retreat on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Wilkes Art Gallery. The board officially added this meeting to its calendar at its January 27 regular meeting.  Business will begin at 9:00 AM.

“The retreat will be a time to bring together the commissioners, town manager, clerk and mayor to establish goals, objectives, and projects that will reap the most benefits for the citizens of North Wilkesboro,” said North Wilkesboro Mayor Marc Hauser. “It will be a chance to learn about each other, and work together as a team with everyone on the same page.”

Lydian Altman, teaching assistant professor at the Center for Public Leadership and Governance at the UNC School of Government (SOG) will facilitate the retreat. She consulted with Mayor Hauser, Commissioner Michael Parsons, and Town Manager Wilson Hooper to create an agenda and goals for the day.

“An elected board’s work is like that of a team of horses,” said Hooper. “No progress will be made unless they’re all pulling in the same direction. The retreat is their opportunity to chart their course.”

At the conclusion of the retreat, the Board hopes to have identified strategic goals for the coming year-and-a-half to two years.

The retreat is open to the public, though the Board will take no action and offer no opportunity for public participation. Attendees are asked to wear masks.
