[ARCHIVED] Face coverings remain required indoors in North Wilkesboro

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[North Wilkesboro, NC, September 30, 2021] - Yesterday Mayor Robert Johnson signed an extension to his State of Emergency declaration requiring face coverings be worn inside establishments open to the public for another month. The text of the extension is below:

AMENDMENT TO STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION:
ORDER TO EXTEND INDOOR MASK MANDATE


WHEREAS, on September 1, 2021, I, Mayor Robert Johnson, in consultation with the North Wilkesboro Board of Commissioners, re-instituted a mask mandate in all indoor public settings through September 30th, 2021; and

WHEREAS, local daily case counts remain high while the local rate of fully vaccinated citizens remains below most other North Carolina communities; and

WHEREAS, wearing masks has shown to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED, that the current mask mandate be extended until October 31, 2021.

Adopted this the 29th day of September, 2021.
