Wilkes County Public Library Brushy Mountain Apple Festival October 5, 2013 The Annual Brushy Mountain Apple Festival is one of the largest FREE one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast. The streets of downtown North Wilkesboro, NC are filled with over 425 arts and crafts, 100 food concessions, 4 different music stages. Appalachian Heritage crafts are highlighted such as woodcarving, chair making, soap making, pottery throwing, and quilting. >> Ongoing Events Wilkes Farmers Market July-September The Wilkes Farmers Market will be open on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Starting in July, fresh tomatoes, beans, corn, nectarines, and other fruits and vegetables will be offered at the market. Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro ChickenFest May 25-27, 2013 A free event celebrating our area’s Americana music and Wilkes County’s poultry industry, sponsored by The Record and Tyson. The Record Park (Corner of 4th & E Streets) Fireworks Celebration July 4, 2013 Come Downtown and enjoy an awesome display of Fireworks in celebration of Independence Day. Fire Truck parade begins at 8:00 p.m. and fireworks begin around 9:00.
