Garbage Collection
Residential collection, one time per week.
Recycling
The Town of North Wilkesboro provided for Recycling at our Drop-Off Center in Memorial Park, on
Wilkesboro Ave. The station accepts the following materials for recycling at this Drop-Off Center:
- Glass Bottles and Jars in the colors Green, Brown and Clear
- Newspapers
- Plastic Bottles and Jugs coded #1 and #2
- Aluminum Cans
- Steel Cans
- Cardboard Boxes
Yardwaste Collection
Items other than regular, household trash require a special flatbed pickup. Grass clippings,
trimmings, leaves and garden material (must be bagged, boxed or placed in a container), brush,
household furniture, appliances, rugs, carpet (cut in small pieces). Pickups arranged by request.

Leaf Collection
|
|
During the fall months (approximately mid October through mid December), special leaf
collection is provided by the Town. During this time, leaves may be raked to the curbside
where they will be collected by the leaf vacuum machine.

Recreation
|
|
The Recreation Department coordinates a wide variety of activities within the Town and
Wilkes County. Included are activities including those at Smoot Park Swimming Pool
and programs held at the Woodlawn Community Center. The North Wilkesboro
Skateboard Park operation is also a recreational activity operated by the Recreation Department.

The Public Utilities Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Town of
North Wilkesboro’s water treatment plant, water distribution system, wastewater collection system
and wastewater treatment facility.
