North Wilkesboro Offers Rain Barrels
The Town of North Wilkesboro, NC is offering Rain Barrels to it's residents and Wilkes County Residents. The Rain Barrels pictured (taken by Mark Gabriel) on the NW Newsletter webpage are available by contacting Town Hall and speaking to Kay Minton at 667-7129 ext. 3001 to place an order.
Rain Barrels are placed in connection with household gutter down spouts to catch rain water that comes off of homes and then is collected in the barrels for use. NW is offering the barrels as a way of helping its citizens find ways to conserve on water. This is especially important during this time of drought. Samples are available at Town Hall. The two barrels available are provided by Rain Water Solutions of Raleigh, NC ($88.00at a 45% discount) and Correction Enterprises or the Dept of Corrections. ($40.00)
The DOC barrel is made from recycled pickle barrels and the Rain Water Solutions barrel is made of 100% recycled plastic. More information on Rain Water Solutions in installation help can be found at www.rainwatersolutions.com/rainbarrels.html
