WRMC will be embarking on a 15 million dollar building project in the upcoming year. The building of a new Emergency Department (ED) along with the renovation of existing space will add 12 additional treatment rooms and accommodate the increasing volume in our ED. The original space, built in 1989, was built to accommodate 15,000 visits a year. The ED currently experiences 36,000 visits a year. The extra 9,420 square feet and new treatment rooms will allow us to better meet our communities emergency department needs. A second construction project is the renovation of existing Operating Room (OR) space, which will allow for 2 larger OR rooms. This enhancement will accommodate the increased space requirements for technology and will improve patient flow.
WRMC is committed to providing state of the art technology. In February 2010, a telestroke robotic program was implemented allowing 24/7 neurology coverage provided by stroke fellow trained neurologists. In November 2010, the new Toshiba Vantage Titan 1.5 Tesla MRI was installed, providing cutting edge MRI imaging services in the region. Currently, this is the only MRI of its kind in the region.
WRMC has exceeded their goals for 7 out of the 8 quality indicators for 2009-2010, enjoying some of the highest scores in the Carolinas Healthcare System. For the 5th consecutive year, WRMC was awarded the PRC 4-Star Inpatient Service Award for overall quality of care in service excellence. WRMC is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The seal of accreditation is accepted nationwide as the highest standard of medical care in personnel, equipment and organization.
