Through a cooperative effort of Wilkes County, the Town of North Wilkesboro, and the US Postal Service, some addresses in town have been updated to comply with the new countywide E-9-1-1 system. Citizens that have received a letter no-tifying them of the change are the only ones directly affected. We anticipate that less than 10% of residences and businesses will be required to change their ad-dress. The purpose of the re-addressing is to expedite emergency services per-sonnel in finding your house or place of business to increase response times. This will also aid with the GPS location devices in vehicles in finding your location. To assist your local emergency providers and mail carriers, please place your new ad-dress on your house or business and on your mailbox at your earliest conven-ience. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you.
